In recent years, society has changed its way of consuming. We are increasingly immersed in the messages to which we are exposed, and in addition, we are experiencing a migration to digital environments that is changing the educational landscape.

This transformation has not only been driven by the need to adapt during the pandemic, but has also opened up new possibilities and challenges for students and educators around the world. Tecmilenio is at the forefront of training students who want to reach their potential in a generation absorbed by media convergence.

Online platforms and digital tools have enabled more equitable access to knowledge. The flexibility to learn from anywhere and at any time has democratized education, eliminating geographic and time barriers.

Erika Donjuan Callejo, director of the Tecmilenio University Juárez campus, stated that in 2025, there will be a disruptive change in education, where there will be no subjects, but rather certificates co-created with companies so that students are prepared from the first semester.

The professor also stated that there would be a certificate for each course that would prove that students are experts and have the necessary tools to enter the workforce. These changes have begun with the recruitment of the first generation of Software Development majors with these characteristics, but will progressively expand.

Furthermore, the educational content has been greatly diversified, with multimedia resources, interactive simulations, and virtual collaborations that enrich the learning process. Students can now explore topics in a more in-depth and personalized way, adapting to their pace and learning style.

With a vision that encourages the development of professionals with a life purpose and the skills to achieve their goals, the university offers programs related to the technological landscape, such as Software Development Engineering, Administrative Computer Systems Engineering, a Master’s in Information Technology Management, and a Master’s in Artificial Intelligence.

Donjuan said that the most important aspect is co-creation and partnerships, so that each student is certified by experts in new technologies, ensuring practical learning.

Bruno Zepeda, rector of Tecmilenio, stated that the digital age has accelerated the number of competencies and skills a student needs, so having leaders who are aware of the media reality will allow for better decision-making.

The changes made at Tecmilenio will be a reality for bachelor’s and master’s programs at this institution by 2025. The director of the Juárez campus mentioned that they are working with companies such as Siemens, IBM, and Microsoft. This will make them the first university to make a change in the classroom, shifting classes to practical co-creation projects and certifications in response to the rise of technology.

As we move toward an increasingly digital future, it is crucial to address these challenges and seize the opportunities that technology offers to improve education.
