In recent years, Ciudad Juárez has emerged as a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem, challenging the common perception that its economy is solely based on the maquiladora industry. Although maquiladoras represent a significant portion of the city's income, the business landscape is much more diverse and dynamic than previously thought. There are approximately 43,138 economic units registered with the INEGI (National Institute of Statistics and Geography), of which only 320 are maquiladoras. This data demonstrates the predominance of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.

In 2018, Red Juárez Emprende emerged, a network aimed at fostering entrepreneurship in the region.
